There are 3 different sizes for the odometer lead gear.
The best way to check the gear is to make sure it is tight on the shaft, it should not spin.
All you need to do is measure the overall thickness before you order a new gear.

Generally the most common gear that we have seen has been a 17 tooth gear.

This gear is for all 911 Porsche's with US- specifications from 1976 - 1989.
It is a double gear with 20 teeth on the outside and 30 teeth on the smaller inner gear. Learn More
There are multiple tooth count options that can be installed in this odometer.
You need to count the teeth on the old gear before you place your order.
The outside gear will always have 20 teeth, on the smaller inner gear it could be between 21 and 32 teeth.
If you cannot count the teeth on the main gear anymore, please count then the teeth of the next gear that it meshes with. Tooth count should be between 38 and 49 teeth.
